The classic three-bucket model is a useful shortcut, not a hard rule. Modern hybrids blur the lines, and individual response varies.
Indica
- Body-leaning. Heavy, relaxing, "in da couch."
- Best for: evening use, sleep, pain, stress.
- Typical examples: Northern Lights, Granddaddy Purple, Bubba Kush.
Sativa
- Head-leaning. Energetic, creative, social.
- Best for: daytime, creative work, hiking, social events.
- Typical examples: Sour Diesel, Jack Herer, Durban Poison.
Hybrid
- Mix. Most modern strains are hybrids. Will skew indica- or sativa-leaning.
- Best for: depends on the cross. Read the strain notes.
Why the model is shaky
The "indica vs sativa" effect is better predicted by terpene profile than by genetics. A "sativa" Sour Diesel and an "indica" Granddaddy Purple may share more genetic ancestry than either does with a true landrace. We list strain type AND dominant terpene on every product so customers can pick on either signal.
Reading our product copy
- "INDICA / SATIVA / HYBRID" — the bucket.
- "Myrcene-forward" / "Limonene-forward" — the dominant terpene.
- Two together = useful prediction. Just one = guess.
